Reasearch project around artist residences and hotel

This group of residences for artists is part of an ongoing research project led by our architectural firm. Inspired by the work of Josep Lluis Sert for the Maeght Foundation, we revisited this paragon of modernity still relevant for our time, by optimizing its ecological functions and designing convenient facilities for artists.

 

The relationship to nature, light, water, sound as well as silence was our main concern. The “impluviums” of Sert, themselves inspired by antiquity, will be mounted on mechanical hinges and serve both as water container, solar collector and adjustable light trap according to the artists' wishes.
